Your finished TearDrop Camper Trailer will cost about $500. if you make your own door(s) ($199. for door shown) and will weigh about 500 lbs. These plans will show you step by step (with pictures and drawings) how to build a 4′x8′ Teardrop Camper Trailer exactly like mine pictured here with a black convertible top and screened roof , or hard top .The material list in these plans will show you everything to buy at your Lumber store and the supplier page will show you where to get everything else such as doors , convertible top material or hard top material etc . I build all my TearDrops on HarborFreight trailer kits . The reason for this is because if you bought all the parts it takes to make a trailer street legal separately (axle , wheels , tires , springs , hubs , coupler , safety chains , tail lights , wiring harness , license plate bracket and steel for the frame) you would spend much more than the HarborFreight kit that includes all of that for about $299. and includes a title so you don’t have any of the homemade trailer hassles (inspections , licensing problems , title problems and more strict insurance requirements) . Plus the kits are good quality and easy to put together. (NO WELDING) The main tools needed for this project are : A hand held power jigsaw , a power circular saw and a power drill/driver . (plus some misc hand tools you probably already have or can buy inexpensively) I have built many of these . If you are handy it is a fairly easy project . I have built one in as little as a weekend but It’s much more fun to work on an hour or two a day and finish in a week or two. Plans are 20 pages total , pictures , scale drawings and printed instructions (printed on 8.5″x11″ paper) I go to the post office everyday Monday through Saturday .
