19 Mar 2010This rare and unique piece of baseball memorabilia and vintage advertising is being offered for auction by its original owner! The book is entitled, “How To Improve Your Baseball”. The piece advertises Motorola Inc., of Chicago, Illinois, and explains this as the “World’s Largest Exclusive Electronics Manufacturer”. As Bob Feller says, “If you can’t go to the game, you can see it better on MOTOROLA TV or hear it better on MOTOROLA Radio”. The inside of the back cover shows the ’57 Motorola Portable Americana TV and Radio. The inside is FILLED with specific information detailing the how to’s for improving and playing baseball in all positions! The book is in excellent condition, which is amazing in consideration of its 50+ years of age! The cover features Bob Feller, and explains that this is compliments of Bob Feller and “Your Motorola Dealer”. Inside, The Bob Feller Story “One of Baseball’s All Time Greats” is written, along with details on “The Famous Bob Feller Fast Ball Grip”. Photographs of the grip used by Feller to throw his “world famous ball” which “clocked ..over 104 miles per hour” is displayed. All of this only adds to the collectibility of this book. The first page offers the contents, ranging from the Game’s History, to Throwing, Fielding both Ground and Fly Balls, Hitting, Bunting, Base Running, Sliding, Pitching, Catching, etc. . This is an amazing piece of baseball history, along with a truly complete book of teaching the game and the “how to’s” for outstanding play. It is all complete and in excellent condition. Bob Feller played all of his 18 years in baseball with the Cleveland Indians, and entered without ever playing in the Minors. He led the American League in his record for No Hit Games, and was an eight time All Star, who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962. When he retired in 1956, he had the record for the most walks in a career! And in this book, he offers so much help and detail to any and all baseball players and enthusiasts! The book is in excellent condition, with no marks, labels, or tears that I can find! The seam is fully connected as well. In the closed position, it measures about 7.5″ X 5.25″. In total, there are 80 complete pages. Please view the photos to verify and better understand these descriptions. I am not a collector, but do believe this is an amazing piece to add to any vintage baseball, advertising, book, sports, or era memorabilia collection. It would also frame and display perfectly as a complete book, or in sections for framing as well, particularly in light of its amazing condition and inclusive content. Further, it would serve as a complete and truly valuable teaching resource for any coach or player of the game! It is a wonderful piece of memorabilia, as well as a timely treasure of the era and the modern game as well! I welcome any questions or requests for added information. This is a rare gem of a collectible and a resource !
