Cookbook ca.1925 What to Cook & How To Cook It

Product Information Title: What to Cook and How to Cook It 4th ED Author: Unk Format: Hardcover ISBN: N/A Publisher: unk Number of Pages: 252 Publication Date: approx 1925 Missing the title page, we had to date this cookbook by the references to brand names in the household hints section. The title is bearly legible on the cover, and extensive efforts to find this anywhere have failed. It was purchased at an estate sale in Fayetteville, North Carolina about 20 years ago. The only additional info is the hand-written name of ‘Alma L Kelly’ followed by ‘Kelly Williams’ in flowing script on the inside cover. The Kelly family was an old founding family of Fayetteville, NC, but any further provenance has been lost over the years Condition is well-used, with the writing on the cover almost illegible. The binding still holds intact, and the pages within are in good condition and very usable, even with the small food stains invariably found on the pages of a well-used cookbook. Overall this book is a lot of fun, and many of the recipes are those you just can’t find in a modern cookbook – heritage meals your great-grandmother knew how to cook. Includes recipes for Boston Brown Bread, Sally Lunn bread, Rice Muffins, 20 different preserves and jellies (including brandied peaches), Cucumber Catsup, over 300 cakes, puddings, sherberts, confections, cold and hot desserts; As well as instuctions for how to pick, draw, bone, and truss a fowl. Great Sruff!!!!! PayPal only, please. Thanks for looking, and good luck bidding!
